INGRES JOINS RED HAT EXCHANGE
Details on Ingres Open Source Database Available Immediately Through Red Hat Exchange
REDWOOD CITY, CA - June 18, 2008 - Ingres Corporation, a leading provider of open source database management software and support services, announced today that the company has joined Red Hat Exchange (RHX) and details of the company's open source product, Ingres Database, are available immediately via RHX as part of the company's software catalog. RHX is focused on helping organizations of all sizes access the benefits of business software stacks powered by open source.
The Ingres Database is designed for mission-critical, enterprise-class environments. The Ingres database software offers high-volume transaction processing, high availability, multi-platform support, and security for mission-critical application deployments. In addition, Ingres supports a variety of integrated development environments to promote application development on its database. Red Hat Exchange (RHX) extends Red Hat's open source architecture strategy to include integrated business application solutions from open source partners built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss platform software. Through RHX, customers are given the opportunity to obtain information on leading business solutions from Red Hat software partners - such as databases, customer resource management, business intelligence, messaging, and collaboration.
By providing choice to the marketplace, Ingres and Red Hat were able to provide an enterprise mission critical solution for AAH Pharmaceuticals, the UK's leading distributor of pharmaceutical and healthcare products and services to pharmacies, hospitals, and doctors. AAH Pharmaceuticals has deployed a high availability solution where the organization takes advantage of Red Hat's clustering solutions and the high availability features available only in the Ingres database, such as point in time restore, hot online backup, as well as parallel backup and recovery.
